AT PIP STUDIO

Here is an overview of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and how Pip contributes to them:

1. No poverty: End all forms of poverty everywhere. At Pip Studio, we believe in the power of collaboration.

With our partners such as New Edition, Bedding House, Silka, Rozenkelim, and Eijffinger, we are committed to a more sustainable future. Together, we make the world a little bit more beautiful. This is not just a mission; it is the core of corporate social responsibility at Pip. Rozenkelim, part of Turkuaze BV, is a wonderful example of this. Through our collaboration, we have given their production in Turkey a significant boost. By paying fair wages and working with suppliers who share our values, we help reduce poverty and build a better future together.

2. Zero hunger: End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture.

We work carefully and with attention to every detail, starting with the materials we use. For all our products, from bed linen to porcelain, we choose more sustainable raw materials. For example, our partner Eijffinger uses FSC-certified paper, which not only contributes to good forest management but also indirectly promotes greater food security and environmental protection. Bedding House, our partner in cotton products, is committed to the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), which helps contribute to responsible cotton farming. Fair prices and loyal partnerships are a given for us. Child labor? We do not engage in that. What we do is create employment, demonstrate reliability, and always pay as agreed. Together, we ensure a sustainable future.

3. Good health and well-being: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.

We believe it is important for our employees to feel good, both at work and outside. That is why we create a healthy work environment and ensure safe working conditions. Many of our colleagues choose to commute by bike or public transport, contributing to a healthier lifestyle and cleaner air. But our commitment goes beyond our immediate environment.

In collaboration with our producers in the Far East, we strive for clean and responsible production methods. This means that we continuously aim for processes that are as environmentally friendly as possible, which not only benefits our planet but also contributes to a healthier living environment for factory workers. Moreover, we work with partners like IZY, who donate 500 liters of clean water for every thermos bottle sold to those in need. We also critically examine our packaging. By using smart designs that minimize breakage during transport, we reduce returns and the associated CO₂ emissions from transportation. Thus, we not only ensure the well-being of our employees but also contribute to a more sustainable future for everyone.

4. Quality education: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

We find development very important. That is why we invest in training for our entire team so that we continue to improve together in what we do. Whether it is about professional topics or personal growth, there is always room to learn something new. These training sessions ensure that everyone at Pip Studio can continue to grow and flourish in their field. Additionally, our partners are also committed to quality education. For example, Bedding House, this manufacturer holds the Better Cotton certification. Better Cotton trains farmers to use water more efficiently, keep the soil healthy, and protect natural habitats. Together, we contribute to a beautiful, sustainable future.

5. Gender equality: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.

At Pip Studio, we believe in a work environment where everyone has equal opportunities, regardless of who or what you are. Men and women work side by side with us, with no distinctions made. In our job listings, it’s all about your talent and passion, not your gender. Together, we create an inclusive workplace where everyone can be themselves.

6. Clean water and sanitation: Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

We carefully use water in all our production processes together with our partners. Thanks to the latest techniques, we minimize water consumption in dyeing and washing processes. Additionally, we ensure that no harmful chemicals enter the wastewater, thus protecting the environment and the people around us.

7. Affordable and clean energy: Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all.

Our partner New Edition works hard to reduce CO₂ emissions during their production processes. How? By switching to green energy! This not only benefits the environment by reducing greenhouse gases and improving air quality, but also saves water. Rozenkelim, our partner in floor and outdoor rugs, dries their rugs in the sun without any energy consumption. Additionally, smart packaging of products in smaller volumes ensures we use even less energy. Active Ants is also making significant steps toward a more sustainable future. They are testing and implementing electric vehicles for parcel delivery, contributing to a reduction in CO₂ emissions. The current location of Active Ants is also BREEAM-certified, which is the sustainability label for buildings with minimal environmental impact. As if that weren’t enough, they have energy-efficient warehouses powered by solar panels. Together, we’re making the world a little greener!

8. Decent work and economic growth: Promote sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all.

We are actively engaged in promoting sustainable, inclusive economic growth where everyone can contribute. We ensure full and productive employment, with each team member playing their own unique role. And because everyone does what they are good at with us, we can shine together in what we do. Fair work is a core value. We pay fair prices and ensure that everyone in the supply chain is valued. Furthermore, we believe in creating livelihood for our producers by working loyally with them each season. In this way, we build long-term relationships that bring trust and stability to all involved.

9. Industry, innovation, and infrastructure: Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and foster innovation.

We invest in production processes and infrastructure that are not only environmentally friendly but also efficient. For example, we work with Beddinghouse, where products are made according to Better Cotton guidelines. New Edition is also one of our partners, working with producers that are OEKO-TEX and BSCI certified. Our outdoor and floor rugs, in collaboration with Rozenkelim, are made from recycled PET bottles, helping reduce the use of single-use plastic. Additionally, our partners in porcelain and artificial flowers, New Edition and Silka, are actively involved in projects aimed at reducing CO₂ emissions. They do this with green energy and beautiful silk flowers. Furthermore, our partners Eijffinger and de Eekhoorn use FSC-certified paper, so together we contribute to a more sustainable world.

10. Reduced inequalities: Reduce inequality within and among countries.

At Pip Studio, we work closely with our partners to use environmentally friendly production processes and materials. For example, we save water and increasingly focus on green energy during our production processes. This helps preserve natural resources, especially in developing countries. Additionally, we provide inclusive job opportunities, where everyone is welcome. Regardless of your background, age, gender, or where you come from, at Pip Studio everyone has equal opportunities to contribute to a beautiful future.

11. Sustainable cities and communities: Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.

We give waste materials a second life by turning them into beautiful lampshades. We consciously choose all-over prints to minimize fabric waste. Much of our work is done via laptop or PC, making remote working easy and flexible. We encourage the use of public transport, electric cars, and bicycles to reduce our ecological footprint. And because we want to prevent waste, we do our best to return returns properly to the goods flow. Unnecessary returns? We don’t do that.

12. Responsible consumption and production: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.

At Pip Studio, we are committed to sustainable production processes and using environmentally friendly materials and transport. We consciously choose sea and truck transport, as this significantly reduces CO₂ emissions compared to air travel. Together with our partners, we work hard to minimize packaging materials and empty space, further limiting our environmental impact. Our partnership with sustainable transport companies like PostNL, which aims for emissions-free delivery, aligns perfectly with this. We have consciously decided not to offer "Same Day Delivery" because it has too much of an environmental impact. Our logistics partner, Active Ants, uses FSC-certified packaging materials and customizes packaging for all our non-breakable products. Our customized packaging uses less material and is better suited to the product. This leads to more efficient use of packaging materials and reduces transport volume. Efficient automatic packaging machines ensure just the right amount of material, especially for fragile products, to prevent waste of raw materials. Our other logistics partners, like DHL, bpost, FedEx, and DPD, are also taking sustainable steps. They use alternative fuels, recycle waste, and invest in technology to make delivery routes more efficient. At Pip Studio, we aim to prevent unnecessary returns as much as possible. We actively discourage returns because we believe in making sustainable choices from the start.

13. Climate action: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.

We focus on energy efficiency, reduce CO₂ emissions, and choose more sustainable materials. For example, our outdoor and floor rugs are made from recycled PET bottles, actively reducing the use of single-use plastics. Our silk artificial flowers, developed in collaboration with Silka, emit 3.15% less CO₂ than real artificial flowers and last for eight years. That’s not only better for the environment but also for your interior. Additionally, our partner New Edition is working on an exciting project to reduce CO₂ emissions during the production process by using green energy. Moreover, the actions taken by Active Ants, such as custom packaging machines, green shipping, and FSC-certified cardboard, also contribute to the climate. Beddinghouse is also working to reduce textile waste and give as much textile as possible a second life.

14. Life below water: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development.

We are actively working to minimize water pollution in our production processes. We ensure that no harmful chemicals enter the wastewater, so both nature and people remain protected. Additionally, we work with our partners to reduce the use of single-use plastics. By using plastic smarter in packaging and products, we help reduce plastic pollution in the oceans.

15. Life on land: Protect, restore, and promote the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, manage forests sustainably, combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation, and halt biodiversity loss.

We support initiatives that protect our forests and natural areas. We work with companies that are FSC certified so we know our wood is sourced responsibly. Additionally, we are proud of our partnership with Life Terra, a foundation dedicated to combating climate change by planting trees. Their ambitious goal? To plant 500 million new trees by 2025! We are happy to contribute to this beautiful goal. Our partner Rozenkelim also works with Life Terra, helping to plant and monitor trees to track their growth and long-term impact.

16. Peace, justice, and strong institutions: Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all, and build effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels.

We value transparency and honesty. We find it important to be personal, especially on social media. That is why we respond carefully to customer questions, as if we were a friend. This creates a warm, sincere bond where trust is central. We do not do business with unreliable countries and always make clear and honest agreements. We keep our promises because, at Pip Studio, you can rely on us.

17. Partnerships for the goals: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.

We work closely with other companies, suppliers, and organizations to achieve our joint goals and make a greater impact on sustainable development. We are proud to participate in initiatives such as the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) and the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), which are committed to sustainable raw materials. Additionally, we are involved in projects focusing on energy efficiency, responsible water use, and reducing CO₂ emissions in production processes. Transparency and honesty are highly valued by us, both towards our customers and within our partnerships. We always stick to our agreements and strive to be a reliable and committed partner. Together, we are building a sustainable future, where we not only think about the products we make but also the positive impact we want to leave on the world.

At Pip Studio, we believe in collaboration and continued growth. That’s why we actively engage with everyone in our chain – from partners and suppliers to customers – to take steps every day toward achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Together, we make the world a little more beautiful, one step at a time.
